Thank you for coming to my site.

The most important thing a first grader can do is to read and be read to everynight. Soon

your child will be responsible for bringing home books he/she can read by themselves or

with a little help. How do you help your child when they come to a word they don't know?

If it is a short word, they can use sounds to sound it out.  You can read the sentence back

to them leaving out the unknown word and seeing what would make sense.  Have fun, laugh

out loud at the funny parts, tell how you feel about the story, or something that happened to 

that was similar to the story.  Enjoy each other.
