Creative WritingLife is Beautiful Requirements 

1.      Take notes during the film—you will turn these in.  Completely fill each box for full credit.

2.      Select a genre in which to write.  The genre can be any we have worked in, or others you may select.  You will be graded according to the genre you select as well as overall quality of writing.  What we have already studied: memoir, short story, photo project.  Other ideas: diary entry/journal short story through different perspectives, series of poems or song lyrics, essay on some topic related to life and the beauty within it, a project that mixes both images and text, others you might come up with.

3.      You must then write a proposal.  It is due: 03/30/12 . 

4.      The proposal must state: genre, purpose, length, goals.  This must be approved by me.

5.      Complete your Life is Beautiful paper.  Minimum requirements: 2 pages, typed double-spaced; commentary AND artist’s statement (for those projects using images, poetry, song lyrics, or as I require); at least 2 drafts; at least one teacher conference and one student conference; at least one self-evaluation; and it must be titled Life is Beautiful.

6.      A work days: 03/30; 04/03; 04/05;   Rough Due 04/03.

7.      Final due at end 04/05.  

 

Life is BeautifulNon-Prose Additional Requirements  For those of you choosing a non-prose form (anything other than a paper written in paragraph format), you must also complete an Artist's Statement.  This should be one page, typed and double spaced.  It should state, what you as an artist, have done with your project. Please explain the following: 

  1. Your inspiration
  2. The ideas you wanted to convey
  3. How this genre/format conveys your ideas better than a prose form
  4. In detail, explain your process and your level of success
Please see me with questions.  This is due as part of your paper, and must be submitted with it to be considered complete and on time.
