Heather Anderson’s Classroom Expectations
I would like to remind you about the importance of your child’s physical activity education. It is a well documented fact that Americans become increasingly less active as they age. Just as children and youth can learn the habit of regular physical activity, they can learn to be inactive if they are not taught skills and given opportunities to be active during their childhood.
I encourage you to get active as a family. Strive to incorporate a minimum of 60 minutes of physical activity into your daily lives. Take a walk. Ride your bikes. Play catch. Jump rope. Just get moving!
I would appreciate parent assistance in reminding students to wear tennis shoes and clothing they can be physically active in, on pe days. For safety reasons, students will not be allowed to fully participate in our activities if they do not wear tennis shoes. If students fail to wear tennis shoes on more than 2 occasions, I will be contacting parents to problem solve. I’ve encouraged students to mark pe days on a calendar at home as a reminder to dress appropriately. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
