Pre-K and Kindergarten classes continue to work on matching pitch and feeling the beat of the song. They are playing a variety of rhythm instruments and added the kazoo.  Kindergarten will have their vocal music program on May 3.
1st Grade classes continue to work on matching pitch and clapping rhythms using ti-ti and ta.  They are playing a variety of rhythm instruments, including the boomwhackers.  1st graders will have their vocal music program on April 12.
2nd Grade classes continue to use the solfege system to sing pitches and continue working on clapping rhythms.  They are starting to learn note names on the staff by using boomwhackers. They will have their vocal music program on April 12.
3rd Grade classes are learning all of the dynamic terms.  They continue to use the solfege system to match pitch.  They also continue the study of broadway musicals.  We are currently studying The Sound of Music.  They will also be starting to play the recorder as soon as they arrive!  They will be having a vocal music program on March30.
4th Grade classes are continuing to play the recorder and reviewing the staff note names .  They are working on counting rhythms using numbers.  4th grade classes are also doing a unit on broadway musicals, and are currently studying The Sound of Music.  They will be having a vocal music program on March 30.
The 5th grade just started a piano unit.  We have 8 electric pianos that they are playing on.  The 6th graders started a unit called Rag to Rap.  They will be studying the music from the early 1900’s with Ragtime on up to the 2000″s.  We will be discussing the composers, performers, dances, and styles of music of each era.
