2017 CAMP INFORMATION

The Tri-State Championship Volleyball Camp is held annually at the end of July at Mediapolis (Iowa) High School, 725 North Northfield, Mediapolis, Iowa.
This camp is open to any girl who will be in 7th – 12th grade in the fall of 2017.
Where is Mediapolis?
The camp includes morning and afternoon instruction sessions from a featured clinician, a knowledgeable, enthusiastic camp staff, daily skills competitions, a week-long volleyball league, lunch, and free camp t-shirt.  The camp fee is $125.00 if paid before July 10, 2017 and $140 if paid after July 10.  It is nonrefundable after July 10, 2017.

1James Rogers

Head Coach

Southeastern Community College

West Burlington, Iowa

 

Coach James Rogers will begin his 1st year coaching at SCC this fall.
Rogers came to SCC from Salem International University, SIU, in West Virginia where he held head and assistant coaching duties over the NCAA D2 program three seasons.
Prior to SIU, Rogers honed his coaching skills in the Texas high school ranks. He was Head Coach at Ennis High School, in Ennis, Texas and Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Texas, and served as assistant at both Sharyland High School in Mission, Texas.
The League City, Texas native spent more than 12 years coaching in the National Club circuit, including serving as Head Coach & Recruiting Coordinator of the San Antonio Warriors under-18 club volleyball team.
Rogers earned his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Tarleton State in 2010 and is currently working on a master’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in sports pedagogy.
In addition his coaching duties, Rogers will coordinate special recruitment projects for general student enrollment.

Peter Gustin

Volunteer Asst. Coach

Peter Gustin is in his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Iowa volleyball program.
The Mokena, Illinois, native has both coaching and playing experience. Gustin played for Lincoln-Way East High School (2002-2006) while competing nationally for Ultimate Volleyball Club (2004-2006). He later attended the University of Iowa where he played for the UI’s Men’s Club Volleyball team (2006-2010).
Gustin then shifted his love for the game to coaching. He spent summer of 2015 coaching the Iowa Boys Regional Youth Team in Des Moines, Iowa, and later coached team camp at the University of Kentucky. From 2012-2016, Gustin served as the Solon High School girls varsity head coach, as well as the school’s language arts instructor. While at Solon, he led his team to a Class 4A State Runner-Up finish in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, he clinched a 3A State Championship while being named Class 3A Coach of the Year, 3A Southeast District Coach of the Year, and 4A Northeast District Coach of the Year.
In the fall of 2014, Gustin began coaching for Adrenaline Volleyball Academy- 15 Rox. In 2015, his team won the Midwest JVA Challenge and placed 14th out of 92 teams at the AAU Girls Junior National Volleyball Championships. In 2016, Peter coached his team to the USAV Girls Junior National Championships and JVA World Challenge-open division, leading his team to an Iowa Region Championship and JVA Midwest Runner-Up finish.
Gustin graduated from the University of Iowa in 2010 with degrees in both English and journalism & mass communication. He has his teaching certificate in secondary English education.

Doug Frazell

Head Coach

Wartburg College

Waverly, Iowa

 

Frazell joined the Knights’ coaching staff in April of 2010 and was named Associate Head Coach in February 2012 before being named the co-head coach in summer of 2013.
Prior to Wartburg, Coach Frazell was the head coach at West Des Moines Valley High School. During his seven years there, he led the Tigers to an average of 30 wins per season, three state tournament berths, and two Central Iowa Metropolitan League championships. Frazell also has had stops as both a graduate assistant coach at the University of Nebraska and as an assistant coach at Central College.
Frazell has helped guide the Knights to Iowa Conference Championships in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2015. He was named Iowa Conference Co-Coach of the Year with Coach Jennifer Walker in 2013.
Frazell also serves as the assistant director of Community Recreation at The W.
