In October of 2022, Mediapolis started a robotics club, The Mediapolis Mechanical Mutts. We had frequent meetings to set up our club and learn the skills necessary to build robots. The goal was to eventually compete in FIRST’s Robotics Competition, which is a unique competitive game every year. We had 21 students in the robotics club. The whole team pitched in to help build and program a test robot and then complete our final design. On March 22, 2023 we took our robot and 18 members up to the UNI Dome for the competition. While we were there, we competed in multiple events with other teams from across the state. A big part of the competition was helping and working with other teams. Even though we didn’t win, it was an amazing experience! We plan to continue to expand the club for many more years.
