Mediapolis School Board Approves Petition to Place Future Ready Initiative on Ballot

Mediapolis, IA – September 10, 2025 – The Mediapolis School Board is pleased to announce that it has officially accepted a community petition to place the Future Ready Initiative on the upcoming November 4 ballot. The petition was presented and accepted unanimously during the board’s recent meeting on Monday, September 8, 2025, reflecting the district’s commitment to engaging with the community and advancing educational opportunities for all students.

The Future Ready Initiative is a comprehensive plan designed to modernize school facilities, creating opportunities for students, enhancing safety, security, and accessibility to strengthen our school, community, and partnerships. The centerpiece of the project is a state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center, offering advanced learning spaces for various occupations, including manufacturing, agriculture, engineering, business, computer science, construction, welding, and healthcare. This project also introduces new accessible parking spaces near the auditorium, replaces and reconfigures the student parking lot, and improves the school entrances for enhanced safety.

“We are grateful for the community’s passion and involvement in shaping the future of our schools,” said Mr. John Witte, President of the Mediapolis School Board. “By accepting this petition, we are taking an important step toward ensuring our students have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We look forward to a robust community discussion as we approach the vote.”

The Mediapolis School District encourages all community members to learn more about the Future Ready Initiative by attending upcoming informational sessions and visiting the district’s website at https://www.meposchools.org/o/mcsd/page/mepo-bond.
