Mediapolis, Iowa- The Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council at the Department of Education announced that the Mediapolis Community School District is one of 31 school districts to receive the 2026-27 STEM BEST® (Businesses Engaging Students and Teachers) Program award. The STEM BEST® Program brings schools and businesses together to provide students with real-world workplace experiences, introduce them to businesses and career opportunities in Iowa, and help them gain career-ready skills.

The STEM BEST® Program encourages teachers and industry professionals to work side-by-side to develop a work-based learning model that integrates STEM subjects such as mathematics and science with workplace skills.

We appreciate the support of our local partners Afinitas and MTC Technologies during the application process. STEM Council's investment: VR-Enhanced WBL Program. This grant will allow Mediapolis students to engage in virtual career exploration and innovative learning across various courses, including, but not limited to, Science and World Studies. The total grant awarded to Mediapolis is $50,000.
