Dear Mediapolis School Community,
We want to provide you with an update regarding a reported incident this evening involving Mediapolis students. A student made statements that were interpreted as a possible threat to other students at school tomorrow.
The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Department has been involved this evening. This matter was handled swiftly and is now under investigation by law enforcement. To ensure the safety of students and staff, the student accused of making a threat will not be at school until the investigation has concluded and appropriate action has been taken. We want to reassure you that ongoing safety measures are in place to protect everyone during this time.
The Mediapolis School District and local law enforcement are actively working together to maintain a safe learning environment for tomorrow and beyond. Our School Resource Officer (SRO) has been notified, and increased oversight and visibility are being implemented within our schools.
We take all threats seriously and appreciate the cooperation of students, families, staff, and law enforcement as we work together to ensure the safety of our school community. We encourage families to remind students of the importance of reporting any concerning statements or behavior to a trusted adult or school official. Your partnership is vital in keeping our school safe.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Sincerely,
Adam Magliari
Superintendent
